How to Choose Perfect Plants for Your Juliet Balcony
Nowadays, Juliet Balconies act as a beautiful architectural feature where colourful flowers complete them like a fine piece of jewellery.
Originally they were created for solely functional reasons, for the need of extra natural light and air in cooler buildings.
They became an architectural statement in Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries representing sophistication and elegance. In the early 19th century the Juliet balcony became more popular in the UK, in the era of romanticism, high-fashion, glamour and extravagance.

How to Organise Plants on a Juliet Balcony
Place the sun-loving plants toward the front, where they’ll receive all the light they require. Plants that like shady corners place them at the bottom where they can hide from direct sun. Make sure plants on the top are providing enough shade for the bottom ones.
Choose the colours that complement or contrast each other. Create enough diversity to be interesting and unique without looking cluttered or chaotic. You could also pick one statement plant or have multiple small ones — whatever brings you joy.
Choose Balcony Flower Pots Carefully
Before you choose pots for your balcony you should considerate things like the weight and colours. Make sure the pots are light and safely hanged on the balcony top rail. You can make your containers weight even less by filling the bottoms with coco coir, which provides excellent drainage system. The ones you decide to place at the bottom of the balcony, please use heavier wind-resistant pots.
Also, make sure drainage is good and you are not putting too much weight on the balcony. If you’re unsure ask for professional help. To get a cohesive looking balcony — match the colours of the pots with the flowers.
No matter how small, every balcony deserves a chance to become an oasis for your soul. Only with regular love and care for your colourful friends they will thrive to the full potential. All you need to do now is open those windows widely and enjoy the magical view you created.
