Japandi Trend — Japanese and Scandinavian Fusion | Barbulianno Design
Could this be the winning fusion when it comes to mixing two styles? Minimalist functional design with a sprinkle of stylish decor pieces rather than an abundance of decor.
Bringing the best from two different sides of the globe — Scandinavia and Japan, to one perfect combo called Japandi or Scandi-Japanese style.
First time I came across Japandi I thought, these are two designs speak to each other on so many levels. Scandinavian style brings simplicity through the lines of architecture and cosy uncluttered decor, whilst the Japanese style is all about calming, elegant minimalism. They two are simply meant to be together.
Characteristics of Japandi Style — Colours like pearl grey, sky blue, light pink and white, mixed with stylish statement furniture made of wood with metal details. Japandi is heavily focused on simplicity, creating a peaceful and warm environment with a minimalist layout.
How to Bring Japandi to Your Home
- Walls — choose neutral colours which better reflect daylight through space.
- Furniture — pick neutral fabrics like beige or muted grey with a simple design, stained wood coffee table with contrasting black metal legs.
- Flooring — nothing speaks Japandi more than wooden floors.
- Decor — long elegant branches sprinkled with buds, statement art pieces with simple shapes and contrasting colours, cushions with Japanese oriented prints.
Japandi interior style is an evergreen within the designs with its simple, stylish but not overpowering decor and neutral calming colour palette.
